The Department of Pediatrics at the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York, Northwell Health, is seeking TWO physicians to join the rapidly growing Cohen Children’s Heart Center as members of our echocardiography laboratory’s core imaging team with a focus on fetal echocardiography. The ideal candidates would be BC/BE in Pediatric Cardiology and have spent additional time in a dedicated fourth-year cardiac imaging fellowship with a focus on fetal echocardiography, or have spent significant time working in the field. These clinicians will participate in the inpatient and outpatient clinical activities of the division. A strong interest in helping to grow our programs and pursue research in the field of echocardiography is highly desirable, as is a commitment to work and partner with multidisciplinary team members.
The Cohen Children’s Heart Center sits across the Department of Pediatrics of Northwell Health. Under the leadership of the System Chiefs of Pediatric Cardiology, Dr. Jeffrey Gossett, and Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dr. David B. Meyer, the Heart Center functions as a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team focused on clinical and academic excellence. The Heart Center is rapidly growing with dramatic increase in our clinical programs over the last few years. The institution performs more than 250 cardiac surgical procedures annually with 29 cardiologists (12 core imagers) helping to assure outstanding outcomes, and with a strong commitment to further growth including our soon to be constructed dedicated pediatric cardiac intensive care unit. The Heart Center’s director of cardiac imaging, Dr. Ira Parness, has a deep reputation for excellence in imaging and is a renowned educator. Under his leadership, our imaging team currently reads over 15,000 studies including over 4000 fetal echocardiograms per year. The Northwell Advanced Fetal Care Program was recently opened and is collocate with pediatric cardiology helping to assure seamless patient care. We have a team of two dedicated nurse coordinators for our multidisciplinary fetal heart program who assure communication between the cardiology, obstetric, surgical and other supporting services, thus extending to prenatal life our core commitment to patient-centered excellence. Within our imaging group we also have a robust three-dimensional imaging program that serves to complement the echocardiographic program.
